DO YOU KNOW PENNSYLVANIA’S DOG LAW?
All dogs must be under control and must not be allowed to run at large. Dogs are personal property, and owners are responsible for damages caused by their dog. Also, many people are under the mistaken impression that the “one-bite” rule is applicable in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania courts have done away with the “one-bite” rule and the law is that the owner of a dog who bites someone without provocation has strict liability for any injuries sustained, whether or not the dog has ever bitten anyone previously. For more information, please see the Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement website at www.agriculture.state.pa.us.
